8/4/2022 - Today the Biden administration has declared a Public Health Emergency (PHE), related to the recent uptick in cases of monkey pox nationwide. If you have not heard of the monkey pox, you're not really alone. If you have heard of monkey pox, you may not know what it is, so we are going to break it down for you here.

According to the statistics of Maricopa County website (found at www.maricopa.gov/5825/Monkeypox) posted 8/3/2022, there are 79 confirmed or probable cases of monkey pox in Maricopa County.

Monkeypox is a viral illness that primarily spreads through skin-to-skin contact, although it can also spread through respiratory secretions during prolonged, face-to-face contact. It is endemic in some countries but not the United States, though several countries, including the United States, have seen cases in 2022.

Currently, limited vaccine doses are available and are being prioritized for people who are at higher risk of being exposed.

If you would like more answers about monkey pox, and vaccines, please go to either the Maricopa County website, or for national data and information you can always visit www.CDC.gov/monkeypox and monkeypox FAQs.

We thank you for visiting our site and as always, we encourage all our staff, employees and families to safeguard your health and safety first.
